MuralHouse, Barnieart
Commissioned by Rathbone Society
Designed and painted by Barnieart (based on input from residents)
Assistant Painters - Sion the Painter, Federico Bogo
The Muralhouse design was based on ideas from its residents to celebrate things that made them smile. This included cups of tea, togetherness, lotus flowers, spider plants, being at one with nature, the sound of birds, the Caribbean (home to the bananaquit and green heron), and was dedicated to the memory of Vincent Allen Crosby.
Below are design sketches and stop motion footage of the painting process.

Testimonials from residents, staff and family:
"The MURAL is exquisitely beautiful, and it does not disappoint, the extremely delicate manner in which it was crafted is beyond genius. I was genuinely choked when I saw the tribute to HC and DC's dad, very remarkable indeed."
"The mural is a very touching and heartfelt piece. It captures the fun loving vibrancy nature of Sydenham Road, Which is beautifully dedicated to Mr Crosby. Many many thanks to Bernie for bringing it to life and further thanks to Mr Derrick Crosby for sharing this with us"
"I am personally captivated by the vibrant beautiful colours, signs and symbols of the mural. It is very therapeutic. It is so heartwarming to watch as the rays of the sun glide across the colourful images on the walls. In my opinion, I believe that everyone will enjoy sitting out in the garden during summertime, relaxing, and having picnics and BBQ. I want to say a BIG THANK to Derrick [landlord] and the artist [Barnie] for such a wonderful gift to Sydenham Road."
